New Generation Sirion
New Generation Sirion 28/02/2005 - Daihatsu has launched a new-generation five-door Sirion range. The new Sirion offers European styling coupled with improved interior space, safety, ride and handling and interior comfort.
It has an all-new body and chassis, colour choice, power train and safety features. Sirion’s new body provides the car’s foundations – in terms of low noise levels, increased passive safety and a stable platform for the new suspension. Sirion also has higher feature levels and increased environmental friendliness than the previous model. The new body design has increased interior length by 105mm, interior height by 110mm and interior width by 70mm – while offering higher passive safety levels. The new body design also contributes to reduced interior noise levels and provides a stable platform for the vehicle’s new suspension package. Sirion’s recommend retail pricing begins at $15,490 (excluding dealer delivery costs and statutory charges) and includes factory fitted air conditioning and three-years Daihatsu roadside assist. Daihatsu Australia marketing manager, Adam Gowans, said the new-generation Sirion is highly competitive in the VFACTS Light Car segment due to its aesthetic appeal and greatly improved passenger comfort. "The safety equipment includes dual SRS front airbags, and lap-sash seatbelts and adjustable head restraints for all five seats" “The funky design and colours will win new converts to Sirion,” he said, All new Sirion models share a new 1.3-litre four-cylinder engine with Daihatsu variable valve timing. (DVVT). Sirion’s new engine offers significantly improved performance for the entry level model. It delivers 64kW of power at 6000rpm and 120Nm of torque at 3200rpm and can be matched to a five-speed manual or four-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission. Two equipment grades are offered - SX and Sport. Safety equipment includes dual SRS front airbags, and lap-sash seatbelts and adjustable head restraints for all five seats. Front-seat mounted side SRS airbags and full-length side curtain shield airbags are optionally available. EDITOR - Mark Cox |
